ROBERT KARIUKI
Landscape architect, Founder of LARIAK
Robert Kariuki was born in the Rift valley, and grew up in Laikipia County, Kenya.
In 1990, he founded Lariak Landscapes Limited, a Landscape Architecture and environmental Planning firm. Where he has continued to directed and manage the firms design studio, and its planning philosophy to date.
He has a particular interest in the conservation of natural biotic environments culture and human settlements.
CV
Robert Kariuki graduated from the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada in 1988 with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture, in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts (Settlement Studies), from the same university.
In 2010, he graduated from the University of Nairobi with a Master of Architecture (Urban Design)
Since 1990 he has taught Design and Theory of Landscape Architecture at the University of Nairobi, Kenya.
In addition to this, his resume spans work for a number of organisations:
Chairman, Chapter of Landscape Architects Chapter of the Architectural Association of Kenya
Member and first Acting Vice- President of the Africa Committee of the International Federation of Landscape Architects – Central Region
Fellow Member of the Architectural Association of Kenya
Director of the Board of Bomas of Kenya, Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife.
Chairman of the Board of Kenya Water Towers Agency, Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry
